The Forbes Under 30 Summit

Setting out for Chicago, our first stop on the way to Philadelphia, my parents and I piled into our Prius, along with ten rabbits, including Paxton, Casper, Oreo, and Whatchamacallit. Once in the Windy City, we participated in a two-day pet expo. Although it was an overwhelming success, I encountered one person who was critical of our booth setup and suggested a different layout. She also pointed out that the young rabbits’ paws could have been cleaner. My first instinct was to get defensive. But she did have a point—the rabbits had gotten messy on the long drive from Minneapolis. Despite a thorough wipe-down, they were still babies who got dirty. I figured that if I was able to accept praise, I should also choose to accept constructive criticism. That spurred us to get additional quality carriers and to be more intentional about presentation details. I gathered new lessons.

Listen to criticism; open up to hearing from people who have different viewpoints. Let this sharpen you and what you’re doing.
